New Delhi, January 27 (ANI): The Home Ministry and UIDAI has reached a compromise. Addressing a press conference with UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Montek Singh Ahluwalia today, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said that the mandate of UIDAI has been extended and now it has been asked to issue 40 crore more UID cards. Chidambaram added Home Ministry s NPR will continue to capture biometric data, but if a person says he/she has taken an Aadhar number, no biometric data will then be collected by it, which would prevent the duplication of data.
