New Delhi, September 08 (ANI): Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee urged the government owned Bank of India to over perform so that all habitats with a population of over 2,000 are able to access banking and related financial services by 2011. He said this while speaking at a function to mark the 105th anniversary of Bank of India at New Delhi on Tuesday. He further highlighted the important role played by the public sector banks in catering to the needs of the commoners. The Bank of India is one of the largest Indian banks with a business of over rupees 410,000 crore, serving the banking needs of over 37 million customers through its 3,250 domestic branches and 29 foreign offices.
